‘Spider-Man 4′ already has a new director and a revealing release date
It is confirmed that 2026 will be the year of Tom Holland and that the story of his Peter will remain closely linked to that of Tony Stark, now Victor Von Doom.
Tom Holland wasn’t kidding when he said that ‘Spider-Man 4′ is already in the works. Not only is the movie on its way, but it already has a shooting date and even a release date. It has just been confirmed that the actor’s fourth arachnid foray will hit theaters on July 24, 2026. What’s more, the director is already known, and it’s not Jon Watts. Marvel has replaced the head of the previous three films and passed the baton to Destin Daniel Cretton (director of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’).
Little is known about the movie, with Holland claiming that “Zendaya and I were bouncing around the living room” when reading the script. Knowing the actor’s position in the creative discussion between Marvel and Sony that almost left us without ‘Spider-Man 4′, we can intuit where the shots are going. Sony wanted to bring back Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spideys, while Kevin Feige and Holland wanted a normal story with an unreleased villain, with no multi-verses in between.
Holland’s side won and he also asked to be involved in the production of this episode. And watch out, because the date, July 24, 2026, is also very revealing. On the one hand, it confirms that 2026 will be Holland’s year (since he will be starring in Christopher Nolan’s new vampire movie that summer). On the other hand, it is very close to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, the movie in which Robert Downey Jr. will return to Marvel.
Although Downey has changed his character (and not for little money), many Marvel experts have reminded us that there is a comic book in which Victor Von Doom is directly linked to Tony Stark. We all know how close his relationship is with Holland’s Peter. In addition, Spider-Man will have to take the reins of the new Avengers and go from being the youngster to the leader of the team.
