Spider-Man already crossed over with the X-Men on the big screen, in a fun deleted scene

While the MCU is still working on properly bringing mutants to the big screen, Fox had already managed a crossover between the X-Men and Spider-Man… sort of.

Spider-Man, one of the most popular superheroes in history, already has a long career in film and television, especially since Sony Pictures got the license from Marvel for his first film in 2002, with Tobey Maguire in the role of Peter Parker. Although a couple of years before, the wallcrawler was able to appear in what was the first major superhero adaptation (alongside the legendary and underappreciated ‘Blade’), none other than ‘X-Men’ by Bryan Singer. And you can take a look at it thanks to this funny deleted scene that was more of a joke on the set, in which a man dressed as Spider-Man appears behind several of the film’s protagonist mutants.

Spider-Man and his most hilarious cameo

Long before the sharing and connecting superhero universes became fashionable, someone thought that including Spider-Man in the first X-Men movie was a great idea, and most likely it would have been. Although in this case, we are facing a funny joke on the part of the technical team of the production of ‘X-Men’, who decided to play a joke on the main cast with the unexpected appearance of the mythical Spider-Man.

Thus, Spider-Man’s first big cameo in the cinema (even as a joke) takes place in a scene in which Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Gray run towards the camera, at which point Spider-Man appears from behind, apologizing at the moment for being in the “wrong movie”, all of this to the disbelief of the performers when they turned around and saw a man dressed as Spider-Man. After a few moments, they realize the joke and they start laughing at the situation.

The man who was under the Spider-Man costume was Scott Leve, one of the production specialists who wanted to play a joke on his filming colleagues; In the film, Leva is credited as Waterboy #2. Will we see Spider-Man next to the X-Men in the movies? Everything indicates that this will be the case since Marvel Studios has already begun to introduce the mutants in the MCU thanks to the multiverse, and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man still has much to offer both in future individual films and events crossover.
