Spider-Man becomes a reality in ‘Invincible’ thanks to a fan animation
A fan created an incredible animation that substitutes ‘Invincible’s Agent Spider for the real Spider-Man, with Amazing results.
The Spider-Man “cameo” in the last episode of the second season of ‘Invincible’ was one of the biggest moments for the show, as while Prime Video wasn’t able to obtain the rights to the wall-crawler to add it to the series, they had to create their own version. But as usually happens in these cases, the fan community comes to the rescue, and a follower of the Amazon animated series has replaced Agent Spider for Spider-Man in the brief scene in which he appears.
The real Spider-Man finally arrives to ‘Invincible’
User Drag0g on Twitter/X shared on their account a clip in which he has replaced Agent Spider from ‘Invincible’ for the version of Spider-Man from the animated series ‘The Spectacular Spider-Man’ (2008), frame by frame.
For many, this is what Prime Video intended by including this short scene in episode 8, since it is Josh Keaton (who voiced Spidey in the previously mentioned series) playing Agent Spider. In the real version of the scene we see how an Agent Spider fights against Prof. Ock.
During his fight against Angstrom Levy and his powers to create dimensional portals, Mark Grayson/Invincible is sent against his will to many alternate universes, including one where he briefly meets the character.
Nevertheless, Amazon doesn’t have the rights to Spider-Man for this brief cameo, which is why they had to make Agent Spider as an obvious tribute to one of Marvel’s most popular characters. While fans of both aren’t too happy, this is a smart and creative solution to a copyright problem; The reference is obvious and those responsible for the series avoid getting into possible legal disputes.
This is a reference to the crossover that both superheroes had in comic format in ‘Marvel Team-Up Vol 3 14′ (2005), where Mark Grayson arrives at Marvel’s Universe-616 and meets the real Spider-Man.
The future of ‘Invincible’
The end of the third season of ‘Invincible’ has left the universe of this animated series upside down. Mark and Nolan walk opposite paths: while Invincible is traumatized and faced with the remote possibility of becoming as violent a person as his father, Omni-Man is deeply remorseful of his actions when he was on Earth. All this with the war between the Coalition of Planets and the Viltrumite Empire brewing.
Robert Kirkman, creator of the comics and one of the people most responsible for the Prime Video animated series, has even stated that each episode of season 3 “will feel like a season finale”, setting expectations through the roof. Although Amazon gave the green light to the second and third seasons of ‘Invincible’ in 2021, We will not see season 3 of the series until at least 2025.
