‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ producer has good news about the production
Producer Chris Miller has some encouraging news about ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’, which is set to close the animated Miles Morales trilogy.
In 2023, Sony Pictures released ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, the second animated film starring Miles Morales. After its arrival in the domestic format, there are talks and events dedicated to this film around the world, like a particular screening that was recently held in New York City. During this screening, producer Chris Miller commented on the current status of ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’, the third film in this franchise, highlighting that. They are already “knee-deep” in its production.
“We’re in production,” said Miller to the crowd at the event. “We’re really excited about where the story is going, and I think it’s a very satisfying conclusion to the trilogy, and it’s somehow even as emotional as the other ones…and it’s gonna be exciting. We’re knee-deep in it.” With this, it was implied that the team resumed work on the film after the end of the WGA writers’ strike and the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike, which had caused the film to be delayed indefinetely.
Miles as The Prowler was a last-minute change to the movie
Although there has been no official word on what the plot of ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ is going to be. The last film ended with an alternate universe version of Miles Morales working with his uncle Aaron, and having taken the name of Prowler as his own. But this wasn’t always going to be the case in the final version of the film, something that its director Kemp Powers explained to Gamesradar+. “So, Aaron was still The Prowler and this is rather far along into development too. I remember we had a meeting over Zoom and something just came to me – that Miles should be The Prowler.”
“We had Miles as Aaron’s sidekick, his Robin, but him becoming The Prowler evoked a whole different emotion. When we screened the original, people wouldn’t get it, they just saw another Miles with cornrows and wondered what the deal is. But with that Prowler twist, that made people go, ‘Woah,’ as it’s symbolic of so much. And after that, we threaded in all the references to The Prowler throughout the movie”, he concluded.
With the outcome and ending seen in ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, we can sort of imagine the themes that ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ will tackle, although the release date is not known because previously It was indicated that the project was delayed indefinitely,so we will have to wait for Sony Pictures to reveal a new release date.
