Spyro: A Realm Beyond marks the return of the legendary character in a new and highly anticipated installment

The Xbox Games Showcase has brought back a true video game legend: Spyro the Dragon. The iconic character created by Insomniac Games had already made a comeback in 2018 with Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a project developed by Toys for Bob and Sanzaru Games under the umbrella of Activision, the company that holds the license. Following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Xbox now owns a franchise that was once one of PlayStation’s most recognizable mascots.

The Grand Return of a Beloved Character

The new Spyro the Dragon takes a clear step forward from the classic formula, incorporating RPG elements and introducing an antagonist well-known to fans of the series. Development is once again in the hands of Toys for Bob, the studio behind both the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the most recent Crash Bandicoot games—a logical choice given their extensive experience with modernized classic platformers.

A title Xbox Game Pass is betting on

The new Spyro will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, offering the perfect opportunity to rediscover one of the most beloved characters of the 32-bit era. Additionally, a price cut for the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass plans was officially announced last April. The former now costs $22.99, down from the previous $29.99, while the PC plan dropped to $13.99 from the previous $16.49.
