Squid Game Season 2 debuts its new trailer asking for “One More Game”

One More Game!

After several months of silence, Squid Game Season 2 looks closer. Netflix has released a new trailer that not only lets us take a look at the continuation of this series after 3 years of waiting, but also confirms its release date for later this year.

The trailer you can see above shows a tougher Gi-hun ready to expose the people behind these sadistic and violent games. There are familiar moments where we see Gi-hun trying to warn about the consequences of this deadly game.

“Season 2 explores how Gi-hun follows through on his words after leaving the airport,” says Director Hwang Dong-hyuk in a new behind-the-scenes featurette that revisits Season 1. “Gi-hun’s endeavor to find out who these people are and why they do what they do is the core story of Season 2. In Season 1, there was room to show glimpses of Gi-hun’s various personalities, such as his optimistic nature and positive energy. This time, the focus was on his determination.”

What will Squid Game Season 2 be about?

“Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 remains determined to find the people behind the game and put an end to their vicious sport,” reads the official Season 2 synopsis. “Using this fortune to fund his search, Gi-hun starts with the most obvious of places: look for the man in a sharp suit playing ddakji in the subway. But when his efforts finally yield results, the path toward taking down the organization proves to be deadlier than he imagined: to end the game, he needs to re-enter it.”

For now, Squid Game Season 2 will premiere on December 26, 2024, with a third and final season premiering sometime in 2025. A recent report claims that American remake is in the works with David Fincher as director.
