Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord has released a new trailer showcasing the darkest side of the Star Wars universe

The animated series explores Maul’s life after The Clone Wars.

Update:

Since his first appearance in 1999, Darth Maul has proven to be one of the characters with the greatest potential in the Star Wars universe. Following his debut in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, he evolved from an enigmatic figure—a Sith who marked the beginning of the prequel era—into a key villain for exploring the underworld of a galaxy far, far away. Although Maul has made occasional appearances in animated series, comics, and other spin-off products, ‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’ will be the first animated series to focus entirely on his story. This morning, Disney+ released a new trailer ahead of its upcoming premiere next month.

The trailer shows Maul as a fugitive on the run from Imperial justice, driven by a desire for revenge against the Empire. Along the way, he crosses paths with a Jedi who managed to escape Order 66, Devon Izara, who could be the ideal candidate to become his Sith apprentice.

What is Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord about?

The series, created by Dave Filoni, takes place after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, where Maul sets out to confront the Empire. According to the synopsis, “Set after the events of ‘The Clone Wars,’ Maul plots to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire. There, he crosses paths with a disillusioned young Jedi Padawan, who could be the apprentice he is seeking, to aid him in his relentless pursuit of revenge.”

Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres on Disney+ on April 6.
