‘Star Wars: Outlaws’ brings us to the seedy intergalactic underworld in a new gameplay trailer

Kay Vess and Nix will do anything to survive in ‘Star Wars: Outlaws’, and a new trailer for the Ubisoft title shows us what they’re capable of.

Update:
Star Wars Outlaws

It doesn’t matter if it’s on a galaxy far, far away, crime knows no nationalities or planets. In the midst of the reign of Emperor Palpatine, corruption has spread and smugglers operate outside the law. Star Wars: Outlaws, the long-awaited open-world game from Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment, delves into the seedy worlds, cantina life, blasters and dirty jobs of the galaxy.

Set between ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’, the new title from the creators of The Division 2 and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora travels to the universe created by George Lucas. And just as promised, Ubisoft Forward has left us with this spectacular gameplay of over 10 minutes.

The story of the game narrates the experiences of an entirely new character, the young Kay Vess. Together with his friend—not a pet—Nix and the droid ND-5, she will travel the galaxy fulfilling assignments and earning a living as best she can. Having “chosen” this specific job sector, all jobs will involve some danger, since the different crime syndicates compete and fight for hegemony. In other words: if Kay allies herself with one, other opposing groups will become hostile. And no, it is not possible to please everyone.

Be careful with the imperials in Star Wars Outlaws

Although bounty hunters did not lack work during the Galactic Empire (Darth Vader himself hired mercenaries at his convenience), Palpatine’s forces were never characterized by being soft nor by turning a blind eye, unless the officers in question were corrupt. Massive Entertainment has added a wanted system similar to that of Grand Theft Auto, so depending on the situation it is entirely possible that the Imperials will be hot on Vess’s heels. Needless to say, this can lead to catastrophic consequences. As seen in the Summer Game Fest teaser, Lando Calrissian will be one of the characters from the movies that will appear in the game, just like Qi’ra.

Star Wars Outlaws goes on sale next August 30 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
