Star Wars: Outlaws director reveals whether Coruscant is a planet you can visit in-game or not

The capital of the Galactic Empire, Coruscant, is the seat of power in Star Wars, but it’s also a place of crime and corruption. Will we see it in Outlaws?

Star Wars Coruscant

Coruscant was the capital of the Republic and the Galactic Empire, a planet of tall skyscrapers, fast-paced traffic, and cutting-edge technology. Under that layer of sophisticated elitism, the most dangerous syndicates and criminal gangs operate. Bounty hunters, scoundrels, assassins, and other disreputable individuals handle their shenanigans at the lower levels of the planet, far away—at least in appearance—from powerful and wealthy senators. The theme fits well with Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world game set between ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ and ‘Return of the Jedi’, but will it be possible to travel to this world?

Coruscant recently appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the action and adventure game from Respawn Entertainment. Although it does not fully address the issue of crime syndicates, it does incorporate a mercenary system, although the appearance of the system has more to do with the fact that it is the seat of imperial power, embodied in the figure of Darth Sidious. The canceled Star Wars 1313 was going to be set entirely on this planet, while in the case of Outlaws, it’s not been shown in any trailers or promotional material. During the preview event, MeriStation had the opportunity to interview Julian Gerighty, creative director of the video game, so we asked him that same question and he answered categorically: no.

Classic bounty hunters that we won’t see in Star Wars Outlaws either

The ‘Star Wars’ galaxy is very large, although sometimes it feels like all the characters coincide and come together at the same points. Boba Fett and Cad Bane are some of the most famous bounty hunters of the time, but Gerighty also confirmed that none of them will appear, at least not in the base game. It opens the doors to its inclusion in the future, perhaps in some DLC or expansion, as in the case of Babu Frik.

Star Wars: Outlaws will be released next August 30 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
