Star Wars

‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ shows off an unseen side of the Galaxy far, far away in its first trailer

It’s basically ‘The Goonies’ in space, and we love it. ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is coming this Holiday season and we now have our first trailer.

Skeleton Crew, Star Wars

It’s only been a few weeks since the end of ‘The Acolyte’, the first live-action series set in the era of the High Republic, but Lucasfilm is looking towards the future and is already thinking about ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’, a series with a very different tone.

Conceived as a kind of ‘Stranger Things’, ‘E.T.’ or ‘The Goonies’ in space, the new series created by Jon Watts —director and screenwriter of Spider-Man Homecoming — and Christopher Ford, will chronicle the adventures of a group of children adrift in the galaxy far, far away. As planned, the D23 fan event served to show the first official trailer, which can be seen on these lines.

In the trailer, the main kids of the crew (Wim, Fern, KB, and Neel) follow the usual school routine of all children. However, they are eager for adventure, so they decide to explore and find an ancient Jedi temple. Later, they discover the true nature of the enigmatic Jod Na Nawood, a Jedi played by Jude Law, who has been described as a professor. One of the old acquaintances who will reappear in ‘Skeleton Crew’ is Vane, the space pirate who debuted in the third season of ‘The Mandalorian’. The character was the protagonist of one of the series’ stands at D23.

‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ reveals release date

The filming of the next ‘Star Wars’ movie has already begun: Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have revealed that ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ has been in production for several weeks, although we will not see it soon. As previously reported, the film will hit theaters in May 2026, specifically on the 22nd of that month. According to its creators, the film will introduce the characters of the series, but with the scale of a Skywalker saga movie.
