In a time of seeming peace, the Sith plot and scheme in the shadows. ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ the upcoming Disney+ series, takes place approximately 100 years before ‘Episode I: The Phantom Menace’, during the final phase of the High Republic, a time when the Jedi Order was still numerous and dedicated to resolving the galaxy’s many conflicts. However, the Republic had already been worn down by the attacks of the Nihil, a group of space pirates who used secret hyperspace routes to carry out their terrorist attacks. This is all part of the novels and comics, but what about ‘The Acolyte’?
The secrets will be revealed starting June 4, when ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ premieres with a double feature. Although showrunner Leslye Headland has ideas for a second season, she has assured that it will not end on a major cliffhanger. The first season will consist of 8 episodes of 30 to 45 minutes each.

The new Star Wars series premieres its first two episodes at 6 PM Pacific Time and 9 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday, June 4, in the US and Canada.
What is ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ about and who is the cast?
“In ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems…”, says the official synopsis. The show’s team has hinted that the series will chronicle the infiltration of the Sith into the Jedi Order, a story that will lead up to the events of the prequels when Sith Lord Darth Sidious manipulated the Republic from within and destroyed the Jedi. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was the Shadow Sith who set the plan in motion to become Emperor.
Jedi Master Sol is played by Lee Jung-jae, known for his role in ‘The Squid Game’. One of the antagonists in this story is Mae, the Sith acolyte played by Amandla Stenberg. Another prominent cast member is Caerie-Anne Moss (Trinity in ‘The Matrix’), who plays Jedi Master Indara. From the High Republic novels and comics, Vernestra Rwoh (Rebecca Henderson) returns, but most of the characters are new: Dafne Keen is Jecki Lon, Sol’s Padawan. Jodie Turner-Smith becomes Mother Aniseya, while Charlie Barnett dons Jedi robes to become Yord Fandar. Joonas Suotamo sheds the skin of Chewbacca, but dons the costume of Kelnacca, another Wookiee, this time a Jedi. Other stars in the cast include Manny Jacinto and Dean-Charles Chapman.
‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ will be the first live-action series set in the High Republic.’ Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures’ is now available on Disney+, an animated series for the youngest members of the household.
