Starfield might be headed to PS5 with Microsoft seemingly abandoning exclusives for Xbox

There is a change of course at Xbox. The first warning was the news that Hellblade 2 would only be released digitally, or what is the same, the first sign of a potential goodbye to physical media in gaming. The second were those close to 2,000 layoffs within the company and the restructuring of Activision Blizzard. The third and final one comes to us today: as reported by XboxEra, Microsoft seems to be considering releasing Starfield on PS5, and it would also not be the only exclusive game of the brand seeking to expand its horizons.

Indiana Jones could also come out on PS5

The Verge also reported on the news and expanded it with more names. They claimed that long-awaited releases such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle could be released on PC and Xbox, but also on PS5. They would still be temporary exclusives for several months like so many we have seen lately (Silent Hill: The Short Message is the most recent case). The striking thing about the matter is that here we talk about a first party title that becomes multiplatform, that is, a title developed by Microsoft itself.

According to the report rumors and leaks have been pointing for months at the fact that there is a version of games like Sea of Thieves and Hi-Fi Rush on the way to PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Some even let it slip that among the list of titles about to change scene is Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which would mean a before and after in the industry and insofar as we knew about the exclusivity and first-party development policies.

In the absence of an official announcement where the pertinent explanations are made, one may wonder about the implications of such a turn of the helm. Have Starfield sales been insufficient?
