Steam Deck OLED gets a major price hike, and it’s bigger than recent console increases
The increase puts Steam Deck OLED alongside recent hikes for consoles like PlayStation and Xbox.

The Steam Deck seemed to be one of the last pieces of tech holding out against the rising prices of its components, although it went out of stock earlier this year. And if you haven’t bought one of these console-style PCs yet, we have some bad news: Valve has announced a significant price increase—even higher than the ones consoles have seen in recent months.
What are the new prices for the Steam Deck OLED?
The Steam Deck OLED has returned to Valve’s store, albeit with a significant price increase. Starting today, the Steam Deck OLED 512 GB models will go from $549 to $789, while the 1 TB model will go from $649 to $949. This represents increases of $240 and $300, respectively. The price increase also affects refurbished models, which will see a slight increase as well, costing slightly less than the originals.

Rising component prices are affecting the industry
In its statement, Valve said that “these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole.” This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this statement. Throughout the year, we’ve seen price hikes for consoles, such as the PlayStation 5, whose base model rose to $649, while the Pro version reached $899, and Xbox similarly increased the price of the Xbox Series X|S lineup. For its part, Nintendo announced that it plans to raise prices for the Nintendo Switch 2 by September of this year, just over 12 months after its release.

And Valve will continue to struggle with its hardware, as despite having launched the Steam Controller, it has yet to release the new Steam Machine, which had to delay its launch due to the same issue.
