Curry Barker is 26 years old; Kane Parsons, on the other hand, has just turned 20. These names probably don’t ring a bell yet, but that will change for movie buffs when we tell you that they are the directors of ‘Obsession’ and ‘Backrooms’, respectively. The two big surprises of the horror genre in 2026 aren’t even thirty yet. Achieving worldwide fame at such a young age is dangerous. That’s why authoritative voices like Steven Spielberg are already warning them about the rule they must follow to stay on the right path.

Spielberg, the voice of wisdom speaking to two rising stars of the film industry

“Don’t let success go to your heads,” the director begins in his appearance on the show The Rest Is Entertainment (as reported by The Hollywood Reporter). “Do not let wild success go to your heads, because when you make your next movie, you’re starting from scratch.”

This advice comes from a wise source. Spielberg knows what he’s talking about after filling movie theaters around the world for decades with one blockbuster after another. “It’s always good to have a big hit to shore up your reputation, and you’re going to get a lot of respect from executives, from the film world and from the studios. But the advice I’d give them is something I had to learn the hard way: We all start over again.”

Spielberg constantly insists that, even if you make twenty films, you soon learn that recognition is only based on what came before: your new film will face a different set of reviews and a different level of success.
