‘Stranger Things’ is getting a new age rating due to violence and disturbing imagery

The last season of ‘Stranger Things’ will be much more horrifying than the rest of the series, as confirmed by one small but important change.

As the seasons went on, ‘Stranger Things’ has been getting darker and darker in its themes and plot points leading to the last season, which will be released in 2025. Apparently, this last part of the story will be so terrifying that it is confirmed that it will not be suitable for children, since in fact, its age rating has changed on Netflix, going from TV-14 to TV-MA, an abbreviation of mature, that is, for adults.

Since the appearance of Vecna, ‘Stranger Things’ has been taking on a tone that increasingly tends toward horror, without abandoning its science fiction origins. The Duffer brothers anticipated that this turn was to be expected, which, after all, was by no means surprising.

A month ago, series editor Dean Zimmerman assured that they want to make history with this last season of ‘Stranger Things’ while taking a jab at ‘Game of Thrones’ due to its controversial ending. According to them, only aspiring to “perfection” can help the Netflix series team avoid the mistakes made by the adaptation of the books of the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ saga.

When does the final season of ‘Stranger Things’ premiere?

The fifth and final season of ‘Stranger Things’ will arrive next year in 2025, although Netflix has not yet given a specific date. At the moment, all eyes on the platform are set on the premiere of the second season of ‘Squid Game’, which will arrive at the end of December, and will undoubtedly be one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. At the beginning of November we were able to see the first teaser from ‘Stranger Things’ S5, with a cryptic message that predicted bad news for its protagonists.
