Street Fighter is getting new live-action series and movies through Legendary

Street Fighter’s movie and television rights are being handed over to Legendary Entertainment, who’s already working with Capcom to create new adaptations.

Update:
Street Fighter

The Hollywood Reporter has just confirmed one of those stories in which we’re not sure whether to rejoice or worry. According to the magazine, Legendary Entertainment has just acquired the film and television rights to Street Fighter, the well-known fighting game franchise from Capcom. According to the report, the studio will work alongside the game developers on upcoming projects.

We do not know how to react because this wouldn’t be the first adaptation of the franchise, which already has had over 10 attempts between animation, live-action films, and more. Although in the field of animation, some can be considered pretty good, with real actors we have “enjoyed” projects like Street Fighter: The Movie, whose 2.7 in FilmAffinity speaks for itself. It is only possible to trust the good work of Legendary, who previously released Pokémon: Detective Pikachu with flying colors and has received unanimous acclaim from critics and audiences alike for their work on the Dune adaptations.

Street Fighter 6 is just around the corner

Although it will take time to know what projects will come out of this deal, the franchise is about to enjoy the launch of its new installment, Street Fighter 6. The game is scheduled for June 6, 2023, and since its announcement, We’ve seen the reveal of an accessible controller scheme for new players, a full single player campaign, the addition of rollback netcode and crossplay, and much more. And as if that wasn’t enough, Capcom has been revealing new fighters little by little, and the Fighting Game Community is incredibly hyped for its release.
