Summer Game Fest 2026 date announced — new venue and schedule confirmed
With Los Angeles set to host part of the tournament, SGF finds a new home.
It’s mid-October, and the world already wants to be halfway through 2026. With the World Cup coming to the United States, Mexico, and Canada, our summer will be united by a ball. And wanting to avoid the attention that the world will have on this sporting event, Geoff Keighley has brought forward the date of his event, the Summer Game Fest 2026.
Keighley announced on social media that Summer Game Fest will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026. This time, the venue will also change, moving from the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, CA, to the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Considering that the YouTube Theater is located in So-Fi Stadium, which will be used during this World Cup, the change makes sense. How will this change future presentations? We will have to wait and see what solution is found later on.
For now, there is still a long way to go before we know the schedule for the event, but with this, Keighley is anticipating how congested the city will be a week before the World Cup kicks off, considering that the first match in Los Angeles will take place on June 12.
The Game Awards, still on track
Well, there are still a few months to go before the most important night in video games, The Game Awards. The winners of the best of the year will be announced on December 11 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The list of nominations will be released in mid-November this year, so we still have time to see if any other titles make it into the running for the best of this year.
