Supergirl shows first on-screen meeting between Kara Zor-El and Superman
James Gunn’s new universe continues with a pivotal scene ahead of the film’s release.

The new DCU, led by James Gunn, is about to release its second film. ‘Supergirl,’ starring Milly Alcock, will give us a glimpse into Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El, and her journey to becoming the superhero she’s meant to be (and, of course, saving Krypto). With just a few weeks left until its release, a new look has been revealed at a very special scene: the first meeting between Kara and her cousin Kal.
The video, which you can watch below this paragraph, shows Superman (played by David Corenset) finding Kara and Krypo in a pod near the Fortress of Solitude. The language barrier between the Kryptonian cousins is a key part of this scene, which ends with two major revelations: why does Superman wear his underwear on the outside? And the emergence of Kara’s special abilities as she is bathed in the rays of Earth’s sun.
What is ‘Supergirl’ about?
The film is inspired by the comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, published between 2021 and 2022, created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which Supergirl contemplates her existence until an alien girl asks for her help on a mission of revenge. The movie already has a synopsis, that reads: “When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.”
