‘Supergirl’ surprises with its first trailer and is ready to take flight
The new trailer offers a closer look at Kara Zor-El’s origin, her fractured past, and DC’s expanding cosmic future.

There are less than three months to go until the premiere of ‘Supergirl,’ and after a long wait since the first teaser, we finally have the first full trailer for the film centered on Kara Zor-El. You can watch the trailer below:
Ready for the Woman of Tomorrow
The trailer gives us a glimpse into Kara’s life, from when Krypton still existed and she was a child to a bit more of the story we’ll see as part of the continuation of this DC Universe. The film delves a little deeper into the journey of self-discovery that the character played by Milly Alcock will embark on and what drives her growth as a character. And best of all, we finally get to see Jason Momoa in action as Lobo.
In an interview, James Gunn spoke a little more about Supergirl, mentioning that the character “is a mess. She’s a total mess. I mean, I think as we learn, she’s had a completely different background from Superman,” Gunn continued. “A much more difficult background. He had this wonderful upbringing by two parents who loved him and were very healthy. And her background was much different than that. And she’s ended up different than her cousin.”
The film is inspired by a comic book miniseries published between 2021 and 2022, created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which Supergirl contemplates her existence until an alien girl asks for her help on a mission of revenge. The movie already has a synopsis, that reads: “When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.”
