‘Superman’ unleashes a first look at Nicholas Hoult’s surprisingly terrifying Lex Luthor

Once again we’re getting a clean-shaved look for Lex Luthor in the upcoming ‘Superman’ film, with Nicholas Hoult embodying the supervillain for James Gunn’s new version.

It is no surprise that ‘Superman’ by James Gunn is one of the most anticipated films of 2025, and ever since filming started, we’ve been getting more and more leaked images of the shoot and cast members transformed into their characters. We have already been able to see David Corenswet in action as the Man of Steel, but today it’s time to discover the look of Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, the quintessential villain for the hero, and perhaps for the entire DC Universe.

After arriving at the set almost incognito under a cap, we can already see Hoult as Luthor, and we discover that after Jesse Eisenberg’s hair in the Snyderverse, the character returns to a completely bald look. This is what the first images of the actor as Lex Luthor look like:

Gunn’s DC Universe kicks off with ‘Superman’

Nicholas Hoult, only at 34 years old, already has experience in superhero movies, although from the other side, in every sense. A 22-year-old Hoult played Hank McCoy (Beast) in ‘X-Men: First Class’, this time making the leap to becoming a villain in James Gunn’s DC Universe. In addition, he has also participated in numerous films, putting himself in the shoes of characters that are, at the very least, peculiar, from ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ to ‘The Menu’, all the way to ‘Reinfeld’, or even playing the genius of fantastic literature in the biopic of ‘Tolkien’.

‘Superman’ premieres on July 25, 2025, being the first live-action production of the new DC Universe headed by James Gunn that will really start at the end of this year, with the premiere in MAX of the animated series ‘Creature Commandos’.
