Tarantino explains why he will never watch ‘Toy Story 4’

The director behind ‘Reservoir Dogs’, ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Kill Bill’ and more thinks Toy Story 3 is one of the best movies he’s ever watched, and refuses to watch any sequels.

Quentin Tarantino has no intention of seeing ‘Toy Story 4′, the animated film that Pixar Studios released in 2019. With the fifth installment already in production, the saga does not seem to be close to its end, although the famous filmmaker does not want to know anything about it. The director made an appearance in one of the episodes of Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast and reflected on the difficulties of closing a trilogy. Satisfying viewers is not easy, but ‘Toy Story 3′ achieved that goal with flying colors. The reason he doesn’t want to see the next movies is because he thinks the first trilogy is already perfect as it is.

“I don’t watch all the animated movies and stuff, but I’m a big fan of the ‘Toy Story’ trilogy,” he said while gushing about trilogies that bring their series to an end gracefully. “In the case of ‘Toy Story,’ the third one is just magnificent. It’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. And if you’ve seen the other two, it’s just devastating. But the thing is, then three years later or something, they did a fourth. I have no desire to see it. You literally ended the story as perfect as you could, so no, I don’t care if it’s good. I’m done.”

George Cloney charges against Tarantino

Actor George Clooney and Quentin Tarantino have launched the occasional barb at each other through the media. “Quentin said some shit about me recently, so I’m a little irritated by him,” he said in an interview with GQ Magazine. “He did some interview where he was naming movie stars, and he was talking about you, and somebody else, and then this guy goes, “Well, what about George?” He goes, he’s not a movie star. And then he literally said something like, “Name me a movie since the millennium.” And I was like, “Since the millennium? That’s kind of my whole fucking career.”

‘Toy Story 5′ premieres on June 19, 2026.
