Techland tests the waters on Dying Light 3 and asks who we would like to see as the protagonist
The Polish studio begins to measure the public interest in Dying Light 3... although it specifies that there is nothing concrete.
As much as we think that there are already too many games set in a zombie apocalypse, it seems that there are still not enough. That must be what Techland, creators of Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human, think: they asked their fans who they would like to see as the protagonist of a hypothetical Dying Light 3.
It was the director of the saga himself, Martin Smektala, who asked the question in the form of a poll on Twitter. “DISCLAIMER: This is not Dying Light 3 announcement″, said Smektala on the social network. “we were chatting today overseeing last details for the Gut Feeling update and we couldn’t agree... so please help: if we do DL3, would you be most excited if the main hero was (as a “profession”)”
The options offered by Smektala were “Just a Survivor”, “Nightrunner”, “Pilgrim”, or “GRE Agent (turning good)”, the latter being the most popular option among the participants, which is remarkable since these are the main antagonists of the franchise. However, this character could very well fit the role of a rogue agent or something similar, as specified.
A successful saga
The first Dying Light was a critical and popular success, and over the years it has attracted a large and loyal community. Its expansion, The Following, was the perfect conclusion to a game that added a twist to the Dead Island saga, also created by Techland, by adding more role-playing touches and the grateful parkour. So much so that the development of Dying Light 2: Stay Human became the most ambitious of the Polish studio.
For this sequel, they even wanted to count on a classic RPG legend like Chris Avellone, who was in charge of the game’s script, but had to leave the project due to harassment allegations.
