Update:

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ has just premiered on HBO, but its showrunner, Ira Parker, is already thinking about the future. The ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off has been renewed for a second season, and filming for the new episodes has already begun. In an interview with Esquire, the series’ creator revealed his ambitious plans for the project, which go far beyond the three stories published by George R.R. Martin so far.

In the first season, Dunk the Tall meets his new squire, the very young Egg. The goal is for the knight errant to participate in a joust, but not everyone is willing to grant him that honor. Ira Parker’s intention is for the series to cover the entire lives of both characters, but for now it is only a plan.

A multi-decade plan with the same actors

“I hope George keeps writing [these stories],” he said in the interview. “The truth is—and I’ve pitched this to HBO with a couple very polite eye rolls—I want to do four or five now with Egg as a kid. Then, I want to come back in ten years and do four or five more seasons with Egg the Prince.“ Parker wants to continue working with actors Peter Claffey and Dexter Ansell, so that their ages match those of their characters. ”Then, we’ll come back ten years after that and do well, Egg the adult. So, it would be over the course of their lifetime. And mine too.”

Of course, the plan must be approved by HBO, and George R.R. Martin will have a lot to say, because, unlike ‘House of the Dragon,’ Ira Parker has the author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ at the center of it all.
