The Avatar universe expands! New series, ‘Seven Havens,’ explores the world after Korra

Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have announced ‘Avatar: Seven Havens’, a new installment in the franchise’s universe, as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the original series. Created by the visionaries behind 'The Legend of Aang', Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the story will take us into a tumultuous future following the events of ‘The Legend of Korra’.

A new Avatar in a crumbling world

‘Seven Havens’ introduces us to a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the new Avatar after Korra. But according to the logline in the press release, things are not what they used to be, as the world has been “shattered by a devastating cataclysm.” ‘Seven Havens’ follows the story of “a young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra - but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.”

The series will consist of 26 episodes, divided into two 13-episode seasons. DiMartino and Konietzko will helm the project alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. Although the cast and premiere date have not yet been announced, the premise promises an intriguing story and a visually stunning world.

“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” said Konietzko and DiMartino. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
