We will have to wait a while longer to see Robert Pattinson return as Batman.
One of the most anticipated superhero movies is ‘The Batman 2′ and we will have to wait longer than expected to see it in theaters. The movie, starring Robert Pattinson, will be released on October 2, 2026, a delay of one year from its original release date of October 3, 2025. The sequel to ‘The Batman’ will arrive more than a year after the release of ‘Superman’ in 2025, the James Gunn’s directed film that will kick off the new DC Universe.
Matt Reeves, the director of The Batman, said in an interview with ComicBook in 2023, “I can’t give an update on [The Batman 2] in terms of specifics, except to tell you that we are hard at work on the script. My partner and I are deep in it and I’m excited about what we’re going to do.
‘The Batman’ and his future at DC Studios
James Gunn, co-head of DC Studios and a key figure in this new phase of the DC Universe, has also spoken about the long-awaited sequel, stating that “Matt is working on [The] Batman 2, which he thinks of as a Batman crime saga, which also includes The Penguin TV series. And it is its own thing, and he’s hard at work on that. He came in and pitched us some amazing, really cool stuff the other day. Our plan is for that to continue.”
It is unknown what the story of ‘The Batman 2′ will be about, but everything suggests that Barry Keoghan will participate in the role of the Joker, as it was hinted in the last moments of ‘The Batman’. Meanwhile, the series of ‘The Penguin’ starring Colin Farrell will be a good opportunity to enjoy this last and dark stage of one of the most popular superheroes in history.
