“The best on-screen kiss I ever had was Angelina Jolie. She was born to whittle men and to make them weak in the knees”
The famous actress from ‘Tomb Raider‘ and ‘Girl, Interrupted’ filmed the thriller ‘Taking Lives’ alongside Ethan Hawke; what happened between them on set?
In the early 2000s, Angelina Jolie was one of Hollywood’s hottest actresses and one of the biggest sex symbols of the moment. Not surprisingly, the actress had starred in films such as the award-winning ‘Girl, Interrupted,’ ‘The Bone Collector,’ and ‘Original Sin,’ as well as blockbusters such as ’60 Seconds,’ ‘Alexander,’ and the two ‘Tomb Raider’ films.
Angelina Jolie and her daring proposition to Ethan Hawke
But just before the boom of Mr. and Mrs. Smith—where she would meet her future husband, Brad Pitt—Angelina Jolie co-starred in 2004’s ‘Taking Lives’ with Ethan Hawke, another actor of the moment thanks to his iconic role in ‘Training Day’ alongside Denzel Washington. Well, in this psychological thriller directed by D.J. Caruso, the two had a rather racy sex scene. How did they deal with the awkward shoot? Apparently, Angelina had it pretty clear.
Apparently, Angelina Jolie made Ethan Hawke quite nervous during the filming of their intimate scene, especially when the actress suggested the possibility of getting completely naked to break the ice and “reassure” the actor. So much so that when they were about to shoot the scene of their passionate encounter, Hawke was quite nervous. He confirmed this in an interview with CBS:
“And so, we’re sitting there, and she said, ‘I have an idea about this scene. What if Ethan stayed in his suit the whole time, and I just got completely naked?’” Jolie asked everyone present, including the well-known actor. Ethan Hawke himself acknowledged that, although he was already used to kissing many actresses on screen, it was Angelina who made his knees tremble:
“With all due respect, the woman has been in the press a lot lately, but the best on-screen kiss I ever had was Angelina Jolie. She was born to whittle men and to make them weak in the knees,” said the actor. “FBI profiler Illeana Scott is recruited to assist the police in their desperate search for a serial killer who assumes the identities of his victims,” reads the official synopsis of 'Taking Lives,' starring Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, and Kiefer Sutherland.
‘Taking Lives’ can be viewed in the United States as a rental through platforms such as Amazon Video, Apple TV, or Fandango At Home.
