'The Boys' showrunner confirms we won't see one of the comic's big surprises on the show
The third season of ‘The Boys’ all but confirmed that Black Noir’s identity is not the same in the show and in the comic.
Since the first season of ‘The Boys’, Erick Kripke has had no problem taking a handful of licenses when adapting Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s original work on paper. As a result, comic book fans are routinely surprised by some events that happen differently or simply don’t happen in the Prime Video series. On the contrary, some big surprises and twists that leave us in the pages we do not see on television, and one of them is related to Black Noir.
We will now mention and comment on Erick Kripke’s statements with spoilers from the comic and the third season of ‘The Boys’, but not from the fourth season.
What is the future of Black Noir after the third season?
If you recall, in the third season of The Boys, Homelander kills Black Noir for not telling him that he is the son of Soldier Boy, who was his partner in Payback. However, the fourth season begins, and Black Noir returns to make an appearance for some reason that we will not reveal to not spoil the surprise, but those who have read the comics will already imagine that it is difficult for his true identity to come out in the same way in the series, something that Kripke himself has confirmed.
“No, and I don’t mind saying it. In the comics, he’s a clone of Homelander this entire time and is actually the one doing all these horrific things,” Kripke said in an interview with Variety. “And again, it’s a hell of a twist. But it’s like, well wait, the villain I’ve been following isn’t really the villain. And mileage varies, and I’m sure fans are mad I’m not going that way, but that felt not as satisfying to me. I’m like, if I’m going to follow this villain, I want this guy to be the villain. So I was never really into the clone idea.”
