The ‘Call of Duty’ movie has announced its release date, giving us time to get ready for the mission
The shooter franchise makes the leap to theaters with a summer blockbuster release locked for 2028.
Paramount Pictures has officially locked in a release date for the long-in-development Call of Duty movie. Announced during CinemaCon, the adaptation is now slated to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2028, positioning it squarely as one of the major blockbusters of that summer.
The project was first revealed in September of last year, but it wasn’t until October 2025 that key creative names were attached. The film will be directed by Pete Berg, working from a screenplay by Taylor Sheridan—a pairing that immediately set expectations for a grounded, intensity-driven take on the long-running shooter franchise.
Details of the mission remain classified
For now, there isn’t much information available about the film. During the presentation, a sizzle reel was shown highlighting the Call of Duty franchise as one of the biggest in the industry, with lifetime revenue of $35 billion. For his part, Berg said in a video message, “Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community.” Meanwhile, Rob Kostich, head of Activision, mentioned, “We want to make sure that the authenticity of it is captured on a human level so that it feels really real and infuse that with epic scope.”
