The character eliminated in the return of One Piece that has infuriated fans

Differences between a manga panel and an anime scene.

one piece

One Piece’ returned to television after a six-month hiatus, a moment eagerly awaited by fans of the anime and Eiichiro Oda’s work, and it arrived with the premiere of two episodes this past weekend. It is an arc of Egghead that is approaching its moment of greatest intensity, but what many expected after the long wait was a more polished animation and that it would do justice to the manga from which it comes, but there is one detail that has fans furious.

What is it about? If we compare a scene from episode 1123 of the anime with the corresponding panel in the manga, we can see that a character has been eliminated, and not just any character. It is Sanji, a member of the Straw Hats, and although the fact that he does not appear in the image in question does not mean anything on the story level, it has provoked the audience’s discomfort at the omission of one of the most important and beloved characters of the entire work.

Half a year of waiting and a better return

Was it worth the wait? The reality is that, despite expectations of animation improvements that will undoubtedly be noticeable in some key moments of the rest of the arc, the main reason for the long hiatus was different.

A recurring problem with anime adaptations is that they can’t keep up with the manga, so they have to create the dreaded filler or stretch out their own content, as we’ve already seen in some One Piece arcs like Dressrosa. The season model of most series nowadays avoids this, but One Piece is still old school, although its nearly three decades on the air make it almost mandatory that there had to be a hiatus at some point to give more space between manga and anime.
