Update:

There is only one episode left until the finale of Stranger Things. As viewers prepare for the conclusion, many have theorized about which characters might die in the last episode. Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the series, have already said that they did not intend to emulate the ending of Game of Thrones, but will there be a situation similar to the Red Wedding?

“It’s not Game of Thrones. We’re not in Westeros.,” Matt Duffer revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I love Game of Thrones, but it’s just a very different type of show than that. There’s not going to be a Red Wedding situation.” According to its creator, there will be surprises during the final episode, although they don’t intend to shock or upset anyone.

“I hope by the time people get to the end of the finale that it just feels like there’s something inevitable about what happens, and that it doesn’t feel painful but feels satisfying. We’ll see. But as for Steve’s fate. I don’t know. I can’t say. It would be the next logical step. He keeps getting beaten up more and more. The only way we could take it further is death. (Laughs.)”

The Red Wedding in Game of Thrones

In the series based on George R.R. Martin’s work, the Red Wedding refers to the wedding ceremony of Edmure Tully and Roslin Frey. The King in the North unilaterally breaks his agreement with the Freys, as he had promised to marry one of their daughters in exchange for their support. As a result, Walder Frey murders Robb, his mother, his wife, and the rest of the wedding guests.
