The creator of Fallout returns to Obsidian and sparks theories about his next game: “You’re not going to guess right”

Tim Cain returns to the company where he made history and is already working on a project he can’t talk about.

Tim Cain made history by creating Fallout in 1997, and now he has returned to Obsidian Entertainment to work on a mysterious new game. The developer himself revealed this in a video posted on his YouTube channel, where he announced that he is now a full-time employee at the Xbox company.

Cain commented that the title he is developing has not yet been announced and, due to a strict confidentiality agreement, he cannot reveal even the slightest detail about it. What he has said is that fans “don’t bother guessing. you’re not going to guess right,” which would close the door on a hypothetical Fallout: New Vegas 2.

Obsidian brings back one of the studio’s pillars

Tim Cain was the producer and lead programmer for the first Fallout and also participated as a designer for the second installment. In 2011, he joined Obsidian to work on the development of Pillars of Eternity and South Park: The Stick of Truth, and later co-directed The Outer Worlds. In 2020, he left his position and became a freelancer, but ultimately decided to return to Obsidian, and it seems he will never leave again. The developer did want to clarify that he is awaiting the release of a video game he worked on that has not yet been launched. What could this RPG luminary have up his sleeve?
