The creator of ‘ Invincible’ reveals the reason why the live-action movie is taking so long
Announced almost a decade ago, the live-action adaptation of ‘Invincible’ for the big screen has been missing for a long time. Now Robert Kirkman shares why that is.
‘Invincible’ is one of the most outstanding animated series of recent times. The work of Robert Kirkman, creator of ‘The Walking Dead’, captivates from the first moment, with its two seasons leaving everyone wanting more, ait’s no wonder that Amazon has already renewed the series up to a fourth season, so that beyond the comics we have ‘Invincible’ for a while on television and... in theaters?
The live-action ‘Invincible’ movie was announced in 2017, before the animated series premiered, and although almost a decade has passed, to the surprise of some the project is still alive, as Robert Kirkman stated in an interview with The Direct: “It’s still in development. We’re still working with Universal. You know, the show is going so well. I think the movie absolutely has to be perfect. And so it’s taking a lot of time, like getting the pieces aligned and getting everything to work so that we can come out and make it as good as it can possibly be. So it’s been in development for a long time, and it’s probably going to be in development for a while longer.”
‘Invincible’ stands out on all fronts
Kirkman continued talking about the project and highlighting the differences that there have to be between the film and the series, reaffirming this by adding that “in relation to the show, it has to provide a different experience, it has to still be true to ‘Invincible’ in some interesting ways. But it has to be its own thing. It has to stand on its own. And so that’s something we’re spending a lot of time crafting. But I think when it finally happens, it’s gonna be really cool.”
