Prime Video

The creator of 'The Boys' talks about the end of the series and how many seasons are left

Kripke does not clarify if the recently confirmed fifth season will be the last of the series.

The Boys

If there was any doubt that the fifth season of ‘The Boys’, which has been confirmed for weeks, would be the last, Eric Kripke, the showrunner of the series, does not let it go. In fact, the official Prime Video release makes absolutely no mention of this being the end. His latest statements suggest that we will be seeing more of Homelander, Butcher, and company beyond Season 5, for which there is still plenty of time.

Will season 5 be the end of ‘The Boys’?

It was back in 2020 when Kripke himself assured that the show would have “five seasons total”, but today he doesn’t seem to be so clear.

“I have learned since then to not try to call the seasons as the person who, and this is without hyperbole, is literally the most wrong in entertainment history of how many seasons their show should go,” he said in an interview with Inverse. “Someone pointed that out to me, and I was like, ‘You’re right. That’s ridiculous. I need to keep my mouth shut.’ And so I will.” Kripke is also responsible for “Supernatural,” a series that would reach a whopping 15 seasons. “Guinness World Record of who is dumbest about how long their show should go, there would literally be a picture of me.”

However, Kripke knows how the series will end, and since he has original material to work from (the Ennis and Robertson comic), he can take the easy way out and make it practically a carbon copy...or not. “Whenever that last episode occurs, I know what happens,” he said.

In the meantime, and hoping that there is still a long way to go before the end of Prime Video’s most irreverent series, we must remember that Season 4 of The Boys premieres this coming 13th.
