The filming of 'Gen V' S2 begins with the absence of Chance Perdomo: "the character’s death on the show"

After rethinking the show’s script with Perdomo’s absence in mind, the rest of the ‘Gen V’ cast is back to work.

Gen V

The students of Godolkin University are back in class as the filming of ‘Gen V’, the acclaimed spin-off series of ‘The Boys’, begins with the filming of its second season. This, as we know, is in the absence of the sadly deceased Chance Perdomo, who played Andre and whom they have decided not to replace.

In fact, the shooting of this second season was supposed to start earlier, but the unfortunate event forced the writers to rethink the future of the show, once it was decided that they were not going to choose a new actor to replace the young Perdomo. This is how Eric Kripke, showrunner of both ‘Gen V’ and the main series, explains it.

“First, it’s just so unbelievably tragic, and my heart goes out to his family,” Kripke comments. “We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”

‘The Boys’ universe will continue

Kripke confirmed weeks ago that the next season of ‘The Boys’, the fifth, will also be the last, but that does not mean that the stories in this hilarious universe will end. Not only is the second season of ‘Gen V’ planned but there’s also a spin-off set in Mexico starring Diego Luna (‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’) that we haven’t heard about yet... but they might not be the only ones.

“I think they can and should continue,” Kripke continues. “‘The Boys’ story is about Butcher and Homelander and these two planets crashing into each other and this particular story doesn’t work without both of them. But there can be other stories and other corners of the universe. And hopefully, it’s vibrant and perverted enough to allow for those stories. So hopefully, ‘Gen V’ continues, hopefully, a couple other things we have in development continue.”

At this time, the second season of ‘Gen V’ has no scheduled premiere date, although it is expected to arrive in early to mid-2025.
