The final trailer for ‘Uzumaki’ perfectly captures the disturbing horror of Junji Ito’s masterpiece

The anime adaptation of Junji Ito’s ‘Uzumaki’ is releasing very soon on Max, and its final trailer is just what we had hoped for from the series.

Uzumaki

Adult Swim has adapted one of the most celebrated and terrifying mangas in history. Master of terror Junji Ito is the author of ‘Uzumaki’, which has now become an anime miniseries of four episodes set to release on Adult Swim and Max. The story takes place in Kurouzo, a humble town located on the Japanese coast, which is perpetually covered in fog. Under that ethereal cloak hides a terrible curse. According to Shuichi Saito, boyfriend of the young Kirie Goshima, the place is not cursed by the action of a person or a being from beyond the grave, but rather because of the Uzumaki, a spiral, a pattern, the mystery that shapes the world. All this universe of horror is reflected in the final trailer of the series, which can be seen right below these lines.

Uzumaki’ will be available on Max starting next September 28. The original work was published in Japan in 1998 and has become a timeless classic of the genre. The 61-year-old author has been compared to horror figures such as Stephen King or Edgar Allan Poe. His unique style, together with his extraordinary stories, make Junji Ito one of the most applauded mangakas in the world.

Junji Ito collaborated on Silent Hills, Hideo Kojima’s canceled game

One of Konami’s most anticipated video games was canceled by the Japanese company when everyone assumed that it would be a rebirth of the genre. Directed by Hideo Kojima, Silent Hills had the collaboration of Guillermo del Toro. The filmmaker himself confirmed that Junji Ito also participated in the development of the title, although the project never materialized. After Kojima’s departure, the Silent Hill saga has remained inactive... until now. We have already tried the remake of Silent Hill 2 and our impressions couldn’t have been more positive.
