‘THE FINALS’ announces its official and immediate launch during The Game Awards 2023

The Game Awards 2023 continues with even more surprises, and it doesn’t seem like Geoff Keighly wants to stop. Now, Embark Studios has revealed that their upcoming competitive game show FPS, THE FINALS, is actually launching today!

The announcement was made today during The Game Awards, where a new trailer (which you can find below) showed off a little bit of what’s coming to the game on its Season 1. Las Vegas is the Season’s new map, one that wasn’t shown in the previous beta periods of the game, and as is expected from such a place there’s tons of bright neon lights, slot machines, boxers, Elvis impersonators, aliens, and much more.

“We started Embark to re-imagine how games are made and what they can become. THE FINALS is our first game to release, and a great embodiment of that vision,” said Gustav Tilleby, Creative Director at Embark. “THE FINALS isn’t another battle royale, military sim, or tactical FPS – there are plenty of those out there. It’s an entirely new take on shooters. It’s been amazing and humbling to see the response from the community over the past year of testing. Now that the game is live, we’re laser-focused on ensuring a great experience for our community, with many surprises along the way.

In this game, teams of 3 players are dropped into a virtual arena where they will have to compete in high-octane battles to complete a variety of objectives depending on the game mode. Destructible environments are the first thing that sets the game apart, however, as your explosives and abilities are capable of dropping entire buildings, and it’s all part of the strategy during team fights and heated encounters for control points or vaults.

As the game is free-to-play, you can expect a variety of cosmetic items both in a store and a Season Pass, with which you’ll be able to dress up and accessorize your characters up to your liking.

THE FINALS is available now on Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
