Netflix indicates it will arrive “in 2027,” that is, just twelve months after the premiere of the second season. Since we saw season 2 in March, the production company will likely stick to the same schedule. The Alabasta arc is one of the first major political and emotional storylines in the series, and marks a turning point in Eiichiro Oda’s narrative maturity. Throughout this extensive saga, the Straw Hat Pirates’ journey evolves from a simple series of stops at exotic islands into a portrait of a country on the brink of collapse, manipulated from the shadows.

The story revolves around the desert kingdom of Alabasta, a nation ravaged by a devastating drought and growing mistrust between its people and the monarchy. At the center of the conflict is Nefertari Vivi, princess of the kingdom and temporary ally of Monkey D. Luffy, who is racing against time to prevent a civil war that threatens to claim thousands of lives. Her cause is clear: to prove the royal family’s innocence and expose the true culprit behind the chaos.

That antagonist is Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and a key figure in the global balance of power. Under the guise of a hero and protector of the people, he secretly leads the criminal organization Baroque Works, which specializes in destabilizing governments. His plan is not limited to taking control of Alabasta, but aims for an even greater goal: access to an ancient weapon whose trail is hidden in a poneglyph, a remnant of a forbidden history.
