The first trailer for ‘A Minecraft Movie’ gives us more details about the story, characters, and inspiration behind the game

A few months after its first official look, Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for ‘A Minecraft Movie, the Jack Black-starring film that will take us into the world of Mojang’s famous game.

The trailer shows us the origin of Steve (Jack Black) and how the mines has been calling him since he was a child. As an adult, this call accidentally led him into the world of Minecraft, a place where you can create anything you can imagine... as long as it can be built with blocks.

The trailer gives us more details about the rest of the characters that will be arriving in the Overworld, as well as all the references to the world of Minecraft: from how weapons and houses are built to how chicken is cooked and the dangers of the night. There are more than enough winks for everyone, although there is still a very specific clash between the real action and the world of Minecraft.

‘A Minecraft Movie′ synopsis

Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers) and Dawn (Brooks)—find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.  To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.

A Minecraft Movie’ will be released on April 4th, 2025. For more information on the film, don’t miss out on everything we know at this link.
