The ‘Halo’ TV show at Paramount has been canceled after only 2 seasons

Bad news for fans of the ‘Halo’ TV adaptation, as Paramount+ has just revealed that they’re canceling the show after only 2 seasons.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward,” said a Paramount spokesperson in an official statement.

While no specific reason was given as to why the show has been officially canceled, it would appear as though the project failed to capture the attention of the Halo community and an overall audience large enough to support it going forward. Nevertheless, Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television will continue to shop the show to other networks and production companies in efforts to continue with it.

“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future,” said 343 Industries about the situation. “We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”

The Halo TV show had David Wiener as both showrunner and executive producer, and told a loose adaptation of the story showcased in the game with some dramatic changes to characters, events, and the universe in general that didn’t quite land well with fans of the games. It starred Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief/Spartan-117, and Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey. They were accompanied by Jen Taylor reprising her role from the games as Cortana, Bookem Woodbine, Dhabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.
