The iPhone 16 is coming soon: Why experts say to skip the new phone and what they recommend

There are events in our daily lives that have become a natural cycle, and as day and night come and go, we surely see the new iPhone 16 coming in September. Technology is very clear on what it delivers, and each generation has brought new features and improvements, but sometimes the cutting edge might not be what everyone wants.

According to a report written by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a new iPhone SE is on its way. This version of the iPhone could be considered as an inferior one - it’s the entry model, and one that hasn’t been updated since 2022, with the SE third generation. However, and if the rumors are true about its specs, this new model, could be positioned to be the best new iPhone in terms of price-performance ratio, with a catch.

Why the new iPhone SE might be a better choice than the iPhone 16?

The iPhone SE has become a special model since its introduction in 2016, becoming a crowd pleaser with an affordable price and the best features Apple can offer at a low price. Of course, among Apple fans, all the bells and whistles of the Pro Max models seem fancier, but for others, a budget-friendly phone is the best.

While we are still dealing with rumors and some guessing due to trends, this is what Mark Gurman suggests. First, it is most advised that iPhone SE (Fourth Generation) will arrive until 2025, and while the price is not among those rumors, Gurman considers that this model would become a “hot seller” if it mantains it below $500 price (iPhone SE third generation started at $429, but it seems difficult to keep it on that price for longer).

Another point suggest that this iPhone will have a “crisper” OLED panel, a design similar to iPhone 14, and among the most interesting rumor, it will have enough power to handle Apple’s AI initiative, Apple Intelligence. This last point suggests that this new model could be as powerful as the iPhone 15, since according to this new technology page, it is only compatible with iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max.

If this is true, we will have an “entry-level” iPhone that could be more powerful than the last generation, probably with an A17 Bionic. If that sounds crazy, let’s remember that the iPhone 13 and iPhone SE third generation both used the same chip.

When will the new iPhones be announced?

So far, Apple hasn’t really announced the date of the event. In the meantime, AppleInsider predicts that the event will take place around September 10.
