Naughty Dog

The Last of Us has a cheap copycat in the Nintendo Switch eShop

The Last Hope, a clone of Naughty Dog’s highly acclaimed action survival title The Last of Us, is available for purchase on Nintendo Switch.

The game clone situation thing is getting out of hand lately, especially considering that usually, these are quite far from the game on which they are based on (or plagiarized) directly. Such is the case with The Last Hope, a game “inspired” by The Last of Us which has recently been released in the Nintendo Switch eShop for only $0.99. Even at that price, it’s hard to recommend.

“The Last Hope: Dead Zone Survival is an intense storyline game set in an apocalyptic world overrun by hordes of ravenous zombies”, says the official description in the Nintendo Switch digital store. “As the main character, your sole objective is to survive and find a way to escape the nightmarish chaos that surrounds you.”

A premise that, despite having seen it hundreds of times before, does not seem entirely bad. The features that it boasts of, such as “storytelling (?) and narrative”, “immersive graphics” (ahem), “engaging gameplay mechanics” or “meaningful choices” do not seem bad either. We do not know which of them is more delirious, and it is that you only have to take a look at the captures to realize that it probably does not have any of that. Well, maybe “challenging missions” yes, maybe after all the game is complicated... if we can bear it more than 5 minutes.

But if you still don’t feel like spending a dollar on the game, YouTube channel Tahami has seen fit to do it for us. Words are unnecessary.

What about a good multiplayer?

What actually is being developed officially within Naughty Dog, although not without its drawbacks, is a multiplayer The Last of Us title. We recently learned that its approach is being reconsidered since Bungie -acquired by PlayStation- was in charge of supervising it and notified that it was not in an optimal state. They clarified, yes, that it is not a playable or technical quality problem, but rather a business model. We hope to know more about the project throughout this year.
