‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 denies rumors about Pedro Pascal wrapping up his filming

After reports that Pedro Pascal was already done filming his role as Joel for Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’, it seems like the fate of the character is back to being a mystery.

The Last of UsSeason 2 is one of the most anticipated premieres among HBO subscribers. The first season of the series that adapted the Naughty Dog PlayStation game set the bar very high and fans were eager to know what would happen in the next season. Some fans, taking advantage of the rumors that Pedro Pascal (Joel’s actor) had finished his work on the set, began to speculate about a certain event that could take place in the first few episodes.

The information shared a few days ago by insider Daniel Richtman has been denied by an HBO spokesperson (via IGN):, Pedro Pascal continues his work on a shoot that, by the way, only began last February.

What will happen to Joel in Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’?

  • WARNING: Below are massive spoilers for The Last of Us: Part 2. It is recommended not to continue reading if you have not played it yet.

If the rumor that Pedro Pascal had finished his work on filming the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ on HBO had been true, that would indicate that, as happens in the second game of the Naughty Dog series, Joel was headed for death extremely soon.

However, the fact that HBO has denied it and confirmed that the actor is still filming scenes, at the very least raises the doubt of whether the character’s destiny will be different this time. After all, despite the fact that the series maintains a high level of fidelity when it comes to the source material, on some occasions it has altered aspects of the story, adding certain elements and changing others.

Last year, Craig Mazin (one of the directors along with Neil Druckmann) assured that at no time does he feel limited by the plot of the games, implying that there could be significant changes to the script of the series. So the million-dollar question is on the table: will Abby kill Joel or will it be different this time?
