The Last of Us Season 2 on HBO won’t be releasing anytime soon
Joel and Ellie’s journey through the wasteland will continue, but it won’t be as soon as we believed after Pedro Pascal spoke about filming.
The Last of Us series on HBO, based on the PlayStation game of the same name, quickly became one of the most successful shows of all time. That is why its second season is highly anticipated by millions of fans, although now they will have to do just that: sit and wait. Because if recently we thought that it wouldn’t take long to see it, now it has been confirmed that it is not even clear if it can be released in 2025.
The Last of Us: Season 2 on HBO… In 2026?
Francesca Orci, HBO’s Drama Chief, has confirmed what many of us feared, especially in recent weeks marked by the halting of various projects due to the writers’ strike (in this link We will tell you everything about it), caused by the conflict between creatives of the film and television industry and the threat of being replaced by studios with artificial intelligence. According to Orci, both The Last of Us Season 2 and other HBO projects were scheduled for 2025, although now “that’s a big question” and it is too soon to make a decision. Without a doubt, a splash of cold water for those who got excited after Pedro Pascal mentioned that filming was very close to starting.
The Last of Us: Factions is in trouble
As if that wasn’t enough, a recent report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg revealed that the development of The Last of Us multiplayer game for PS5 is not going quite well. Without going too much into details, it turns out that Bungie had to intervene and after inspecting the project has considered that its viability is doubtful, not to mention that Naughty Dog reduced the number of people on board the project. Of course, the company also confirmed a new single player game..
