The Last of Us Season 2 premiere window revealed: we’ll have to wait a few more months

The second season of ‘The Last of Us’ will premiere in the first half of 2025, according to Casey Bloys, an executive of HBO and Max. All the details.

The second season of ‘The Last of Us has already finished filming in Max and is now in post-production. However, the project is progressing at a very good pace, and one of the company’s executives is so confident in the progress being made that he dared to give a concrete time window for its premiere: It will be somewhere in the first five months of 2025, before the end of May. That’s when we’ll see Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie doing their best to survive the terrifying post-apocalyptic world after the Cordyceps pandemic.

‘The Last of Us’ Season 2 to be released by May 2025, according to company executive

In an interview with Deadline, Casey Bloys, President and CEO of Content at HBO and Max, has revealed a key piece of information about the second season of ‘The Last of Us’ regarding its premiere date. While the first teaser simply announced it for the year 2025, Bloys has further narrowed that window, claiming that it will premiere in the first half of the year, before the end of May.

“All I can say is that it will premiere in the Emmy window,” the executive commented. “I’ve already seen the show and read the scripts, and I think everyone is going to love what Craig Mazin has done,” he added. Bloys is looking to build anticipation for the second season of one of the platform’s most acclaimed series.

Filming of the new episodes was completed last August, so at the time of this writing, the series is in post-production, where various tasks such as video editing, adding visual effects, color correction, editing, and sound mixing or mastering are being performed.

This new season is expected to raise the bar both in terms of performances and the stakes of the series as its protagonists confront the sins of their past.
