Nintendo
The Legend of Zelda movie has an official release date, and it won’t be anytime soon
Nintendo has announced the release date for the long-awaited The Legend of Zelda movie.

The last Nintendo Direct before Switch 2 ended with the news of the publication of a new application dedicated to the information of the company. Its premiere was resounding, as it was the way chosen by Nintendo to reveal the release date of the movie of The Legend of Zelda. We will have to wait a bit to see it in theaters: it will be released on March 26, 2027.
This is what we know about The Legend of Zelda live-action movie
We are still two years away from seeing the company’s new work materialize on the big screen, but what is clear is that Nintendo is betting big on this project. We saw the first big piece of its transmedia investment in 2023 with ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’, and its sequel will do the same in 2026, just one year before Link and Zelda make their debut in this medium.
The news of its production was revealed at the end of 2023. Shigeru Miyamoto took to social media to reveal that they are working with Wes Ball (“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”) to make a live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda. No, it won’t be animated: we’ll see a flesh-and-blood Link wielding the Master Sword. The company revealed that they want to “to put smiles on everyone’s faces” with this screening, and that they will “continue its efforts to produce unique entertainment and deliver it to as many people as possible.” It is clear that the investment is total in this sense.
