The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fans have a huge theory about Ganondorf
Nintendo revealed new official art of Ganondorf, and many of the fans have already dug deep to connect the dots and find out what is truly behind the villain.
Ganondorf is one of the biggest names of the moment. The classic villain of the Legend of Zelda franchise had not made an appearance in the main games since Twilight Princess, so his announcement in the latest Tears of the Kingdom trailer saying that he was coming to claim his rightful throne was celebrated by fans of the series. Nintendo has been sharing some official art from the game, and Ganondorf’s look is simply stunning. You can see the last one that has been shown below, but the good thing is how this design, these clothes, and that weapon have triggered the theories in social media about the role it can have in the game. Will he be the true villain of the game or does Nintendo have an ace up its sleeve? First of all, the image:
And now, the theory about Ganondorf and who he is in Tears of the Kingdom
The story leading up to the events of Breath of the Wild and told in the 2017 game talks about 10,000 years before, when Hyrule was a very technologically advanced land, they rediscovered technological artifacts and Divine Beasts to deal with the Calamity in case it happened again. And Ganon returned to reduce everything to ashes. Before him stood Zelda, the four guardians, and the Hero, who wielded the Sword that Banishes Evil to deliver the final blow. Thanks to that attack, the princess was able to seal the enemy.
Well, the theory that we have already seen in various corners of social networks and videos on YouTube is that that ancient hero who at the time faced Ganon is actually Ganondorf. The reasons are the (imposing) aspect that has been shown to us in the official arts. Both the ancient clothes, as well as the sword that he wields and especially the type of hair and the color that Ganondorf has coincides a lot with the history of 10,000 years ago and those murals that they taught us:
At the time it was speculated that Ganon ended up locked inside the body of the Hero from 10,000 years ago and that for some reason now woke up and became the great enemy to defeat, consumed by rancor and trapped for all this time. This was theorized from the first Tears of the Kingdom trailer, in which Zelda and Link are exploring a cave. Naturally, these are speculations but... what would we do without this until the arrival of the game on May 12?
On the other hand, it is also true that in all the trailers we have seen for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Link appears in two forms, the classic one we know in Breath of the Wild and a much wilder one, with thicker long hair, clothing in the style of the one Ganondorf wears, and a different type of sword than the Master Sword. So it is not ruled out that Nintendo is playing with the image of the villain and the hair color of the murals about the legend, but that really that more prehistoric Link was the hero that they told us about in Breath of the Wild:
With this and other theories, the usual thing can happen, that only 5% of the crazy ideas that are shared and discussed on the Internet are fulfilled once the game hits the stores. But it’s interesting how it’s going to connect to the past events of Hyrule, who Ganondorf really was in this universe and what role did he play. There is little time left before we find out.
