The legendary Halo 2 demo from E3 2003 is making its way into Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Halo Studios is celebrating 20 years of Halo 2 with the release of a free mod for Halo: The Master Chief Collection that brings a legendary demo to life.
Halo fans are in great luck; as Halo Studios -previously 343 Industries- announced the arrival of the iconic Halo 2 demo from E3 2003 to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection as part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the celebrated FPS sequel. On November 9, players of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam will be able to download an official and free mod to add said demo to your title, only through Steam Workshop.
The iconic Halo 2 demo arrives in the Master Chief Collection
Many will remember the spectacular Halo 2 demo presented at the 2003 E3, the first-ever look at the long-awaited sequel to such a legendary science fiction FPS that sought to make the most of the hardware of Microsoft’s first console. However, not all the features of said demo reached Xbox in the end, so now we have the first opportunity to enjoy that full experience as part of the extra content for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
This compilation has not stopped receiving content, news, and updates since its distant launch in Xbox One a decade ago, which five years later it also reached PC. Of course, for the moment the only users to enjoy this demo will be those of PC via Steam, as a free mod through Steam Workshop. There is no news of its arrival on Xbox consoles or the Microsoft Store.
On the other hand, Halo Infinite has already received one playlist of multiplayer levels inspired by Halo 2 with improvements in gameplay, such as the absence of sprinting or increasing the height of jumps. Also, the starting weapon of this playlist called Delta will be an MA5K Avenger seen on the cover of the novel ' Halo: Ghosts of Onyx’. Finally, Forza Horizon 5 also pays tribute to Halo 2 via editor cosmetics Eventlab, starting November 7.
