Star Wars
‘The Mandalorian' next to 'Skeleton Crew'? Here's where it fits in the 'Star Wars' chronology
It’s a spin-off of the Mandalorian series, but it tells a story that’s separate from the main conflicts in the galaxy.
The first ‘Star Wars’ series has spawned new products. ‘The Mandalorian’ has branched off into several series set in the same historical period, shortly after the fall of the Galactic Empire. In this time of upheaval, the New Republic has managed to establish a new government, though the Imperial remnants continue to wage war. ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, and ‘Ahsoka’ take place a few years after ‘Return of the Jedi’, as does ‘Skeleton Crew’. The new spin-off of the saga is also set in the same time period.
How many years have passed since Return of the Jedi?
All of the spin-offs starring Din Djarin and Grogu take place after each season of ‘The Mandalorian’. Ahsoka' is set 9 years after the Battle of Yavin, almost a decade after the events of ‘A New Hope’. Episode 7 mentions the Mandalorian conflict, suggesting that this story is set after the third season of The Mandalorian. What about the Skeleton Crew? Lucasfilm has confirmed that it takes place at the same time as ‘Ahsoka’ and ‘The Mandalorian’, about 5 years after ‘Return of the Jedi’. They have not given more exact dates, although this production is more detached from the events of the main saga.
In Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a group of adventurous kids get into trouble and end up far from home. They encounter a group of pirates and meet Jod Na Nawood, a character played by Jude Law who appears to be a Jedi. Over the course of the season’s eight episodes, the boys must find their way back to At Attin, the jewel of the Old Republic.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew has moved up its premiere date to December 3 on Disney+.
