The Marvels appear in new images and spark controversy over their costumes

The upcoming Marvel Studios movie shares a new collection of images showing the new looks of its three superheroes.

The Marvels, the upcoming Marvel Studios movie that comes as a sequel to Captain Marvel and in turn as a continuation of other MCU products such as Ms. Marvel, WandaVision or Secret Invasion, has been shown in new images, not without causing some controversy for the appearance of the costumes of its three superheroines: Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan. And it is that not a few fans have questioned the new outfits of its protagonists, both for its design and the need to be constantly changing costumes.

The Marvels to be a sequel to Secret Invasion

And thanks to the new images of The Marvels, we can see the new costumes of Captain Marvel, Photon, and Ms. Marvel, completely new outfits compared to previous productions in which we have seen each of these characters. In fact, many fans have questioned the appearance of these new costumes, wondering why they need to show new designs when their previous costumes already fulfilled their function.

Although, as usual with these blockbusters, each new iteration of characters usually wears new costumes to bring freshness and sell new merchandising. In any case, it will be November 10, 2023, before we can enjoy The Marvels in theaters. As mentioned in the Entertainment Weekly article, the movie is also considered a direct sequel to the Secret Invasion series.

“Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as The Marvels,” reads the official synopsis.
