The Metal Gear Solid 3 theme has been re-recorded, but not for what you might think
Rumors of an MGS3: Snake Eater remake resurface after the legendary main theme of Hideo Kojima’s game was re-recorded, with the franchise absent for years since Survive.
The rumor about a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake has been around for months, but Konami has not released any sort of confirmation. For that reason, when actress and singer Donna Burke revealed that she was recording the Snake Eater theme song again, numerous speculations were let loose. But they were also nipped in the bud by those involved themselves.
Mason Lieberman, a composer at Tencent, was the first to deny the news. “Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but to avoid misinformation getting out there: We are not working on Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake. We’re also not working for Tencent (before THAT conspiracy takes hold!). Yes, we’re working on Snake Eater. Yes, it sounds incredible.” In another tweet, he clarified that both are working on a video game music album.
Donna Burke, for her part, tweeted the following: “Yesterday I WAS recording Snake Eater. It’s not for a remake. It’s nothing to do with MGS3 It’s for fun.”
What is known about the supposed remake of Metal Gear Solid 3?
To this day, Konami has not announced an official remake of the Metal Gear Solid saga. Even so, some voices have pointed directly to Virtuos, an expert studio in the development of ports and remasters. Speaking to VGC, an employee of the company mentioned that they were working on a remake of a high-budget action-adventure game. With that kind of description it could be any project, but in a video published by Virtuos itself a Snake Eater art book could be seen, which fueled the rumors again.
Nothing is known about the future of Metal Gear Solid. However, Silent Hill has made it clear that there will be remake of the second installment and other original products, including Silent Hill f —a new main entry of the series— and Silent Hill Townfall, from the creators of Observation.
